The job

You will be working in an operations team within the digital solutions for Salling Group - the company behind some of the industry’s most visible formats Netto, føtex and Bilka. You will join a team of six working with cutting edge technologies and in areas such as; Kubenetes, Openshift, Continuous Delivery, Continuous Integration, configuring new environments, capacity monitoring and building pipelines – the overall keyword being automation! We expect you to understand and become able to master these technologies.


Your focus will be on installation and containerization of our MongoDB, MariaDB and PostgreSQL databases, supporting the journey to our new eCommerce platform. Furthermore, you will be focusing on implementation of Message Queue Management. Your role will be to drive the implementation of said database systems; working towards best practices. At the same time you will be supporting our development team using these new technologies. We are looking for a team member who is able to contribute, challenge and enlighten us with new ideas.


In the job, you will be collaborating closely with the business, development teams and infrastructure suppliers, ensuring a stable platform; yet still being aggressive with rapid deployments. Best of all – physically you will be in close proximity to your colleagues across the back-office functions in our offices in Aarslev.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities

In the position you will work as a Database Administrator. Message queue management will also be a focus for this position, with both areas working on the Redhat Openshift platform. The DBM role covers installation, deployment, monitoring, maintenance to secure fast response times, segmentation and quality checking of several types of databases under eCommerce and cloud. Main databases are MongoDB, MariaDB and MS SQL.

The MQM role will focus on RabbitMQ and several other tools. Experience with work queues, scheduling and topics is required, and experience with one or 2 languages like Java and Node.js is an advantage. You must have an ambition of becoming #1 in database management and platform operation securing some of the largest sites in the Nordics, and we will invest back in you. Energy and curiosity is core.


You as the candidate

  • Have a relevant technical Diploma/Data Technician/Bachelor’s/Master’s degree (e.g. computer science)
  • Have a minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in database development or administration
  • Have experience or interest in the setup, design, maintenance and optimization of RabbitMQ or another messaging brokering tool
  • Have the interest in taking responsibility for message queue administration
  • Experience with working in publishing or media is desirable, but not essential.
