Every show of consideration. Every helping hand. Every friendly effort
The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower
Make the invisible visible.
That was the message when we became the first Danish retail group to join the Sunflower Program, which aims to help employees and customers make invisible disabilities and diagnoses visible.
A yellow sunflower on a green background hangs on a lanyard around the neck, indicating that the person wearing it may need extra understanding if, for example, they struggle to read the name of a product, remember the PIN for their payment card, or need extra space or time at the checkout.
The sunflower lanyard allows individuals with invisible disabilities and diagnoses to discreetly signal a need for special consideration and extra help.
In October 2022, Salling Group began distributing the sunflower lanyard to employees and customers who approached customer service or the checkout in all of the group's more than 750 Danish stores.
With more than 100,000 sunflower lanyards purchased, this initiative has made everyday life a little easier for many customers and colleagues across the country.
Our sunflower phone line
Building on the results of the hidden disabilities program, Salling Group has launched the Sunflower Line – a telephone line designed to assist employees with invisible disabilities or special needs with HR-related questions.
Here, questions about payslips, working conditions, and other HR topics can be answered with extra patience and understanding. The Sunflower Line creates a safe and confidential space where there is no need to explain or defend one's needs – here, you are met with openness and support.
To ensure the right assistance, the staff behind the line are specially trained to handle conversations that require extra consideration and attention.
The Sunflower Line was launched in December 2024 as part of Salling Group's effort to create a workplace where everyone has the opportunity to thrive – regardless of their needs.
